Study of the Tribological Properties of HVOF-Sprayed Ni-Based Coatings on Ti6Al4V Titanium Alloys

In aviation, the relative sliding between titanium alloy components causes varying degrees of wear. This work aimed at reducing abrasion parts and improving their service life. Three different Ni-based coatings, WC-10Ni, Ni45, NiCr are sprayed on surface Ti6Al4V by HVOF. Test results mechanical tribological properties such coatings show that hardness Ni45 673 HV0.1 438 HV0.1, respectively, which lower than WC-10Ni coating. When subjected to a high load, suffer cracking flat particle interfaces due low hardness, lowers fracture toughness more The specific wear rates gradually decrease with increase in coating toughness. However, cutting adhesion result severe loss friction pair. moderately hard has weaker effect pair lowest loss. study is viable scheme for design wear-resistant surfaces components.
